Suede Slingbacks

Top: NastyGal; Pants: Michael Kors; Shoes: Steve Madden;
Ring: JewelMint; Bangles: Alexis Bittar, Juicy Couture;
Earrings: J. Crew; Bag: LV

I typically hate slingbacks because they are a total bitch to keep on your feet. However, this pair stays on surprisingly well and I am always minorly impressed when I'm able to get through the day with minimal tugging at my heels.

This week is flying by and I could not be more thrilled! I'm so excited to fly home to CA this weekend to spend some quality time with the fam. Aside from my anticipated (and very likely inevitable) poor showing at the Mud Run on Sunday, we're going to be celebrating both Mother's and Father's Day on Saturday. It's been a bit gloomy here in SeaTown so I'm looking forward to getting some consistent sunshine this weekend :)

Subtle Tie-Dye

Dress worn as Skirt: Purchased at a boutique in Huntington Beach (label unknown);
Wedges: Jessica Simpson; Necklace: J. Crew;
Bangles: Alexis Bittar, Juicy Couture. Forever21; Aviators: Ray-Ban

Ever since I bought this dress, it has come with me practically every trip home to CA and (without fail) every trip to Vegas. It's just one of those versatile pieces that screams perfection for sunny-weather-wear and I adore it.

Did ya'll have a nice holiday weekend?! If you follow me on Instagram, you saw that mine was filled with lots of adventures with N and Britt. Highlights included: Mac&Jack's indulgence, a Mariners game, rooftop drinks at The Hard Rock, longboarding on Alki, and eating delicious food . . some of which we made ourselves with fresh produce and seafood from the market. You can find the recipe here. What did you do? Cheers to a short week! xo

Bejeweled and Bedazzled

Blouse: J. Crew; Denim: 7 For All Mankind; Flats: Kelsi Dagger;
Belt: Unknown; Earrings: J. Crew; Necklace: J. Crew;
Bangles: Nordstrom, Forever21, Alexis Bittar

Lots of jewels happening today. I am so in love with these flats. My mom bought them for me for Christmas last year and they are pure bedazzled perfection. This is probably one of my most favorite go-to outfits. I wore something resembling this last Friday for date night with N.

Last night Jubie and I watched 'Breaking Dawn: Part I' (or as my dad refers to it, "Breaking Wind") of the Twilight series. Now before you get all crazy on me, I have to provide a disclaimer to the effect that I am not an obsessive Twi-hard. I didn't even want to read the books. But then I was given the first two books for Christmas like 3 years ago and I was poor and didn't want to spend money on new books (this was pre-Kindle) so I started reading the damn things. I actually liked the first and the third ones best. The other two were just kind of redundant and lame. And I really did NOT enjoy reading about Bella's demon-child pregnancy (SO. GROSS.), or Jacob "imprinting" on Bella's newborn 2-hours-old infant.

Either way, I have watched the movies (in the comfort of my own home, where scoffing is allowed) because I was intrigued how the books would be interpreted on screen. I kind of equate the movies to 7th Heaven (omg . . . remember that show?! am I getting old??) . . . where everyone just gives brooding looks to one another a lot or stares off into the distance thinking about their fates/futures. ***Disclaimer: this might be turning into a Twilight rant . . . Edward is ugly (in the book he's supposedly this superhuman, gorgeous, sparkling man and all we got was a milky-white Englishman with a creepy smile); Bella is whiny; And why does Sam have a Darth Vader voice? Way too ominous sounding; If Jacob keeps scowling like that I think his face will be left that way forever; Renesme is a really really horrific name!; and the werewolves scared Jubelale . . . I mean, he stayed in my lap and everything but was very alert and then would turn to look at me with his huge black pupils like, "Mommyyyy what are those things and are they going to eat me?!"

A Modern Twist on Gingham

Top: J. Crew; Skirt: Kische; Shoes: Zara; Necklace: Francesca's;
Bangles: Alexis Bittar, Nordstrom, Forever21

I thought I'd bring a modern twist to gingham today. This blouse and skirt combo is way comfy while still upholding a decent "fab factor."

You guys. I have a problem. I went to Lil Woody's again last night for dinner after class (read: 10 p.m. at night)! And worse still, I ordered the Pendleton burger (which has cheese, bbq sauce, and a big fat onion ring on it) . . . and then I added bacon. OMG. I have essentially resigned myself to the fact that I am just going to eat like a chubby kid on Christmas until school is over. It's just too hard to get to the gym.

N and I have decided that we really need to whip our asses into shape. I mean, hello, we met at the gym for Christ's sake! We were just two gym rats twenty-somethings pumping iron and now we crave Ezelle's fried chicken and Molly Moon's ice cream. And we always choose the latter over the former. I think we're going to quite our gym and join Crossfit so someone can just order us what to do and how to do it. It's better that way.

Hits Close to Home

E, J, L circa 2008

I was going to do a plain old fashion blog post today but then something MUCH more important came up. Normally I don't read the blogs I follow until after I post my own post-of-the-day,. There is no rhyme or reason for it. It's just what I do. However this morning for some weird, unknown reason, I decided to read first . . . beginning with The Daybook. And I very quickly understood why I was moved to read first then post (God sometimes works in not-so-mysterious-ways).

Today's post was to be about something other than fashion, nailpolish, and first-world-girl-problems . . . it's about the fight of a couple whom I have no connection to whatsoever, with the exception of the fact that Geri and Jason are dealing with something that is very near and dear to my heart. See, Mr. J up there in the middle of that photo has Cystic Fibrosis . . . and so does Jason. Jason is currently in line to receive a double lung transplant since his lungs have deteriorated to the point that he needs one as soon as possible. This can cost over 1 million dollars. If you feel so inclined, please consider donating to this adorable red-headed couple who is also in the midst of dealing with in vitro (!!!). At the very least, send your thoughts and prayers because this is very scary s*** . . . .

Two-Toned Monotone

Top: Kische; Leggings: Trouve; Sweater: Splendid; Boots: Gifted (Nine West);
Watch: Michele; Bangles: Alexis Bittar, Tiffany&Co.; Ring: Tiffany&Co.

Last night N and I took an impromptu trip to the Mariners game. There had been a torrential downpour earlier in the day and due to some drunken escapades a few weeks ago, I obviously left my umbrella in a bar or taxi somewhere, which meant that yours truly and LV got to experience a decent soaking while walking home from work. It was horrendous. However, God shown upon the Mariners last night because the skies suddenly cleared, SafeCo opened the retractable roof and we got to see the Ms sweep the Rangers last night at 6 to 1. My Lakers, on the other hand, didn't fare so well :/

In other news, I am super stoked because one of my BFFs from childhood is coming to visit this weekend! Miss Britt is currently living in Portland doing an externship for her occupational therapy degree. So with only a mere 3-hours of separation, it's vital we get together. The weather channel is promising sun here in Seattle (fingers crossed) so we'll be hitting up a Mariners game, brunching outside, and visiting Alki over the long weekend :)

One last thing, at the recommendation of a new reader (yay!) Pink, Glitter, and Gold has joined BlogLovin! Follow me by selecting the icon to the right :) You readers just brighten my day with your fab ideas and compliments. XO

Modern Mermaid

Tank: J. Crew; Shorts: J. Crew; Ring: JewelMint; Sunglasses: Electric;
Bangles: Alexis Bittar, Juicy Couture, Nordstrom, Forever21

 Sandals: Steve Madden

 Earrings: J. Crew

As you can see from the above outfit (which I wore this past weekend), it was another gloriously sunny Saturday! I was channeling a modern day mermaid with navy sparkles and mint green shorts :) If you follow me on instagram you witnessed some of the fabulous things that were going on (most notably eating awesome food and indulging in creative cocktails). N and I saw 'The Avengers' on Friday night and we both walked away from it wishing we were super heroes. Staring at RDJ as Iron Man for 2+ hours wasn't so bad either ;)

Saturday was filled with walks in the sunshine and light day-drinking. N and I met up with our new fave couple on Saturday evening at La Spiga to chat with our all-too-kind bartender, Mr. Peacock, and have a few l'arancia rosas (which you should remember from this post). It was quite fabulous. Here is a picture of our famed cocktail:

White White Stripes

Blouse: Gap; Tank: Nordstrom Rack; Denim: 7 For All Mankind;
Shoes: Zara; Necklace: J. Crew; Watch: Michele;
Bangles: Nordstrom, Alexis Bittar

Trench: Ann Taylor LOFT

Please excuse the unruly, wild waves occurring in my hair today. It's what happens when you shower at 11:15 pm because you and your boyfriend decided to go get burgers and shakes (chocolate for her, strawberry for him) after your evening class. And then you get sucked into the Top 100 songs of the 90's on Vh1 and before you know it, it's 11:15 p.m. and your boyfriend is dirty from playing in a baseball game and you feel equally gross because you've been sitting on your ass all day.

So that may or may not have happened last night.

Anyway, I will finally be rid of those damn split ends that have been wreaking havoc on my tendrils for the past 3 months (gross). Hurray! I have an appointment tonight. In other news, for all my fellow Seattleites, I received an email from Lucy over at Madewell regarding the following event happening in Westlake Center tomorrow! I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it yet but if you're in the area, you should definitely stop by! Here are the details:

Exciting news! Madewell's Denim Roadtrip rounding out its West Coast leg with a final stop in Seattle! Madewell's vintage airstream trailer will be parked at Westlake Park, tomorrow, May 19th from 12 - 5pm to share all fantastic cuts, colors and washes of Madewell denim with the Northwest, along with a hair braiding bar, a styling station and some very special surprises.

If you can't make it, catch up on all the action on the Denim Roadtrip tab (and enter for your chance to win 5 years of Madewell denim!) - https://www.facebook.com/madewell.

We'd love to see you there -- grab your friends and join the denim party on wheels!

Happy Weekending!

Seeing Double

Top: Colette; Sweater: Banana Republic; Minnie Pant: J. Crew;
Shoes: Enzo Angiolini; Bangle: Alexis Bittar; Ring: Tiffany&Co.

Apparently this is the week to wear white and gray stripes? Either way, I think my outfits are reflecting the weather because the sun has slowly started to disappear and whitewash gray is setting in. These shoes added the perfect pop of color to the basics of this outfit.

I can't believe it's already Thursday! In my world, this week as flown by (and I hope it's been the same for you). I have less than 3 weeks of classes left and then I can focus on more important things such as: planning the BFF's bachelorette party (we're headed to sunny Palm Springs), putting together our summer beach volleyball team, finally being able to work out again (!!!), cooking new recipes to my heart's desire that don't just consist of chicken or pasta, and shopping for Costa Rica!

What are YOU looking forward to this summer?

On Trend

Top: Forever21; Skirt: Forever21; Trench: Gap; Flats: Me Too;
Necklace: J. Crew

 Bangles: Nordstrom; Juicy Couture; Alexis Bittar

 Sunglasses: Versace; Bag: LV

Mixing neon and floral prints today! These are both old pieces but goodies nonetheless. I never thought about pairing them until today and I rather dig the outcome.

After a frustrating class last night (my teacher gives the most convoluted explanations for homework assignments ever), I was looking forward to getting home and making a delicious pasta dish for myself with homemade pesto. I used this recipe here that I found on Pinterest yesterday. It was delicious! I highly recommend it. I couldn't figure out how to assemble my food processor to make the pesto (I'm domestically challenged), so I just used my blender which worked just as well and made the pesto a bit thicker. This ended up being a good thing because now I can use it on my sandwiches for lunch . . . which just makes me feel oh-so-fancy :)

Back to the Coasts of Capri & St. Croix

Dress (worn as skirt): Forever21; Top: Banana Republic;
Sandals: Purchased in Italy, handmade on the Amalfi Coast in Capri;
Bangles: Alexis Bittar, Tiffay&Co.; Earrings: Purchased in St. Croix;
Nails: Snog by Butter London

 Sunglasses: Versace

 Ring: Tiffany&Co.

Toes: OPI

Donning items from two of my favorite coasts is getting me prepped for summer but making me miss Capri and St. Croix! They are such gorgeous destinations and definitely two of my favorite places. However, I get to add another "C" to my vacation list this summer since my family and I will be heading to Coast Rica! We're going to stay in the rainforest for a few days (bring on the monkeys!) and then head out to the coast for the rest of the trip. I am so excited! Have you ever been? If so, recommendations are welcome!
