A little classic college prep happening for ya on this Friday afternoon. After work, I'm ditching the button-up and changing into a Mariners tee since N and I are headed to the game tonight. We were fortunate enough to go to the last Seahawks preseason game last night too (special thanks to C!) so it's a back-to-back sports night for us. Tomorrow morning we head out to Alderbrook Resort to play with friends and watch K and J get maaaaarried! Woop, woop! Have a FAB 3-day weekend!

No Such Thing as Too Much Pink

Top: J. Crew; Skirt: J. Crew; Shoes: Aldo; Earrings: J. Crew;
Ring: JewelMint; Bangles: Ocean Leather, Nordstrom, F21

You know that for this girl there is no such thing as too much pink! N often asks if pink is still my favorite color, and sometimes I'm disappointed to say "yes." I feel like societal convention is for girls to naturally like pink, and sometimes I hate giving into that "given," however it is just too damn true for me. I always gravitate toward the color and am sure that will never change . . . le sigh. On the plus side, it means that I can put an outfit like this together and be happy wearing it while others may find it "a bit too much."

PS: Please excuse my horrendous posture in the second photo! Good God, even that makes me squirm!

Ballerina Neutrals

Tank: Gifted (Gap); Skirt: J. Crew; Sweater: Remain; Flats: Me Too;
Earrings: J. Crew; Sunnies: Karen Walker; Bangle: Ocean Leather;
Hair Piece: J. Crew

Having used to dance all throughout childhood and into college, I'm convinced that's where my love of all things pink, tulle, and glitter came from. I am constantly drawn to pieces that convey a ballerina-esque vibe, whether they be structured or flowy, I just can't get enough. At first I thought this outfit might be a bit overkill with the tulle on tulle layering, however with the slight shift in color I think it actually works pretty well. I kept the bun messy in order to look like I haven't just run off the stage.

Did you all have nice weekends?! N and I spent ours working out, attending a bbq, watching movies, and cleaning . . . all therapeutic and relaxing as we gear up for a mini-destination wedding this weekend for my dear friend, K :) XO

i heart friday

Sweater: Old Navy; Denim: J. Crew; Flats: Via Spiga;
Earrings: J. Crew; Bangles: Alexis Bittar, Ocean Leather, Nordstrom, F21;
Sunnies: Karen Walker

Happy Friday! And c'mon . . . you had to have been expecting another Old Navy item to be featured today ;) I'm totally in love with this sweater. They also sell it in blue with a red heart . . . I might have to go back and get it.

Anyway, I have to share a story of compliments with you this morning. It's really for the laugh at the end because although I appreciate the kind words of strangers, I feel weird sharing them on the blogosphere like some narcissistic blog chick. So here goes . . . in the span of my 5-7 minutes at Starbucks this morning I was told the following in this order:

1. "I just have to tell you, you are one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen . . ." - female Starbucks barista (and no, she's not a lesbian . . . so it wasn't creepy . . . not that I have anything against lesbians or their compliments . . .)

2. "I love your sweater! Did you get it at J. Crew?" - female Starbucks customer  (don't worry, I let her in on my Old Navy secret ;)

3. - "Do you play football?!" - random dude walking on the street
    - "Ummm . . . what?" - me
    - "You've got broad shoulders!" - random dude walking on the street
    - "Oh gee . . . thanks?"  - me
    - "No, no, I mean it looks really good!" - random dude walking on the street
    - This is the part where I awkwardly laughed and ran-walked across the street to escape into
    my office building . . .

So today I may or may not look like a football linebacker with a pretty face, wearing a nice sweater . . . .

Military Stripes

Dress: Old Navy, Jacket: Old Navy, Belt: Unknown; Flats: Tory Burch;
Aviators: Ray-Ban; Necklace: J. Crew; Ring: JewelMint;
Bangles: Alexis Bittar, Ocean Leather, Nordstrom, F21

As you can see, we are still very clearly on our Old Navy kick over here. I am OBSESSED with this jacket. I could not believe how perfect it was for only $40! Plan to see it on repeat all throughout the fall. It's getting cooler here in the PNW so this outfit was a perfect compromise for when the sun comes out later today. This week and weekend marks my last opportunity to relax before things get crazy with weddings, bachelorettes, and birthdays (*hint*hint*) in the coming months. Cheers to relaxation!

Black & Tan

Jacket: Burberry; Sweater: Old Navy; Minnie Pant: J. Crew;
Flats: Me Too; Earrings: J. Crew; Bangles: Ocean Leather, Nordstrom, F21;
Bag: LV; Sunnies: Karen Walker; Lips: Ruby Woo by MAC

You guys. I went into Old Navy yesterday. I don't think I've done that since like 8th grade. My friend A mentioned to me over HH last week that she had recently gone in there and scored some fantastic finds such as kelly green striped shorts and crisp chambray tops. I just had to see it for myself. And wouldn't you know, it's like a J. Crew knockoff in there right now! Simply AMAZING. Along with the sweater above, I also purchased some great pieces that are going to suit me well in the Fall. I can't wait to share them with you! Take a look around your local Old Navy, friends! It will surprise you :)

Yellow Polka Dot

Top: Target; Skirt: J. Crew; Shoes: Zara; Ring: Kate Spade;
Earrings: J. Crew

I still can't believe that I snagged this blouse at Target for $22 yesterday. Aside from a few random items purchased during my college years, I have never really bought clothes at Target. However yesterday I was running in to buy something and saw this blouse and just grabbed it off the rack without even trying it on. I'm impressed with the material and details, from the bow at the neck to the adorable buttons on the cuffs. It's also a great transition piece for fall. It's lightweight enough for 70+ degree weather and will pair well with black skinny minnie pants and flats in the fall. Go get yourself one today! XO

Five Favorites

Drawstring Military Jacket At $39.94
- Keeping with the military jacket theme . . . this one offers
a perfect transition into fall. Worn over soft sweaters or plaid
camp shirts, this jacket from Old Navy is a must! -

 Marybelle Skirt At $698
- No, you did not read that price tag wrong. Why Kate Spade feels
this skirt is worth almost $700 is beyond me, however it doesn't make me
love it any less.  If only I had $700 to just throw away . . . -

 White Long Sleeve QYJ Tee At $45
- Adore this quote. Adore long sleeve. Adore this tee
from Island Company-

Dome Studs Tortoise Bangle At $38
- This bangle from C Wonder mixes two of my favorites
at the moment: gold and tortoise. It's edgy but pretty and a perfect
transitional piece for fall -

Halogen 'Courtney' Flat At $72.90
- I think these flats are just the most adorable things ever.
And they are currently 30% off! Sophistication with a

Summer Nights in Stripes

Top: Gifted; Shorts: J. Crew; Sandals: Dolce Vita;
Sunnies: Karen Walker; Bag: LV; Bangles: Ocean Leather, F21, Nordstrom

On Wednesday night, N and I met up with some new friends for sushi at Umi. These were people that we met on the boat at Seafair a few weeks ago. And above is what I wore. In three words: i. am. obsessed. Like, I want to wear this outfit everyday for the rest of summer. These shorts were a surprise find at J. Crew online during their summer sale. I just had to have them. Turns out they pretty much go with everything and can be dressed up or down. WIN.

Anyway, dinner was a real blast and both N and I walked away from Umi feeling like lucky kids who just scored lollipops for free. Reason being: as you get older, you realize that some friends that you may have made back in college aren't really "friends" anymore and have become more like acquaintances. This is totally acceptable and natural in life, however it's always a nice surprise when you meet people that you really connect with and then both work to foster that friendship to see where it leads. The best part is when it actually works out and you discover that you like being with them just as much sober as you did when you were both drunk and raving about how much you like Umi sushi (long story). So- N and I are on the way to making new friends :) We discussed this on our walk home from dinner while taking in the setting sun and the peek-a-boo Space Needle:

Scorcher

Dress: Dolce Vita; Jacket: Rubbish; Belt: Francesca's Collections;
Sandals: Dolce Vita; Aviators: Ray-Ban; Clutch: Hobo;
Ring: JewelMint; Bangles: Ocean Leather, F21, Nordstrom

It's supposed to hit 95 degrees here today. Wooooooowheeeeee! This new lightweight dress that I picked up at the DV Sample Sale last Friday was a perfect fit for today's forecast. Not much on the horizon today aside from the fact that I'm hoping to fix the chipping/breaking that is happening on my fingernails during lunch and grabbing happy hour with a friend after work. It's gonna be a good day :)
